Ralph E. Campbell was born in Butler in 1867 and graduated from Valparaiso University and University of Kansas School of Law.

President Theodore Roosevelt appointed Campbell as a U.S. District Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. He served in that role from 1907-1918. He died in 1921.

Butler natives Adam, Levi and Luke Klute (Klutinoty) formed the Christian-music band About a Mile and started making music in 2009.Adam plays guitar and lead vocals, Levi plays drums and Luke plays bass.In 2016, the band was signed by Word Records and released its first album “About a Mile.”
