Slippery Rock soccer wins 1-0 in double OT

David Magliocca scored the game-winning goal in double overtime as the Slippery Rock boys soccer team emerged with a 1-0 win over rival Grove City Friday night.

The two teams played 90 minutes of regulation and one overtime period scoreless before Magliocca ended the stalemate for the Rockets (4-6-2).

Scott Hust got the assist on the game-winner, which was scored with 7:15 remaining in the second overtime.

Slippery Rock plays at Knoch Saturday.

<b>Shaler 3, Butler 0 —</b> Taylor Welter continued her strong season with 13 kills, but the Golden Tornado fell to Shaler, 25-15, 25-17, 25-16.Megan Penrod added 23 digs and Maisy Gibson 15 digs for Butler (2-8), which will host Freeport Monday.<b>Sharpsville 3, Slippery Rock 2 —</b> Virginia Recchia had 24 assists, 29 digs, eight aces and 17 service points, but the Rockets lost another five-set heartbreaker, 26-24, 25-15, 24-26, 21-25, 13-15.Laney McClymonds had 10 kills and 22 digs, Makenna Shaner eight kills and 17 digs, Klara Wilson 28 digs and Tiffany Madison nine kills and four blocks for Slippery Rock (4-6).<b>A-C Valley 3, Sheffield 1 —</b> Mia Sherman had 16 kills and Andrea Meals pitched in 13 kills, six aces and four blocks to help the Falcons to a 22-25, 31-29, 25-11, 25-14.Meah Ielase also had 13 points and eight kills and Tarra Steffanacci 40 assists for A-C Valley (7-3).<b>Armstrong 3, Knoch 1 —</b> Riley Danner had 10 service points and Morgan Jack had 16 digs, but the Knights fell 16-25, 22-25, 27-25, 17-25 to fall to 4-7 overall and 3-7 in section play.
