KC rolls past Punxsutawney
Gremlins put up 42 points in first half in win
Karns City erupted for 42 points in the first half Friday night and went on to shut out Punxsutawney, 49-0, on the road.
“We punted on our first possession and I don’t think we punted again for the rest of the half,” Gremlins coach Joe Sherwin said. “We felt we had something to prove after our game last week and I think we did that.”
Cole Coon rushed for a pair of touchdowns for KC (3-1). Michah Rupp scored on a 45-yard run and caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Eric Booher.
Luke Garing rushed for a touchdown and returned an interception for a score. The Gremlins’ defense forced three turnovers. Austin Brown intercepted a pass and Mason McNany recovered a fumble.
Zach Blair also ran for a score against the Chucks (0-4).
Girls Tennis
Isabella Gaydosh and Emily Ivory of Mars placed third in the Section 2-3A doubles tournament Thursday at North Allegheny. They will advance to the WPIAL 3A doubles tourney Wednesday and Thursday at Shady Side Academy.
The Mars doubles team of Lauren Miko and Cecelia Crowley advanced to the quarterfinal round of the section tourney.
