Butler volleyball snares 1st victory, 3-0
Taylor Welter had 19 kills and 10 digs Thursday night as Butler's girls volleyball team scored its first win of the season, 3-0, over Fox Chapel.
Game scores were 25-18, 25-23, 25-11.
Justine Forbes added seven kills, Maisy Gibson six kills, 10 digs and two blocks, Sophia Lucas seven aces and 30 assists for the Golden Tornado (1-5).
Butler plays North Allegheny Monday.
Clarion 3, Karns City 0 — The Gremlins lost the match 25-15, 25-3, 25-21. Ashley Fox had four digs and three blocks, Morgan Smith two kills and three blocks, Shavon McCanna an ace and eight digs.Amber Maurer added a kill, assist and five digs, Emma Johns a kill, two assists, three digs and a block.
Hickory 3, Slippery Rock 2 — Tiffany Madison, Laney McClymonds and Reagan Duffy had nine kills each for the Rockets. Klara Wilson had 30 digs, Virginia Recchia 29 digs and 22 assists.
Sam Miller and Chloe Weiland both scored a pair of goals and Butler remained unbeaten with a 7-0 victory over Shaler. Paige Miller and McKenna Yaracs split time in goal for the Golden Tornado (7-0, 6-0).Gabby Boden, Madison Rose and Leah Weiland also scored for Butler.<b>Mars 5, Chartiers Valley 0 —</b> The Planets (7-0) won their fifth straight game by shutout. Mars hosts West Allegheny Monday night.<b>North Allegheny 4, Seneca Valley 2 —</b> The Raiders (2-2) scored first, but North Allegheny scored three times late in the second half.SV plays Saturday at Pine-Richland.
Three Butler golfers carded a 35 as the Golden Tornado (9-5) ended the regular season with a 183-212 win over North Hills.Colin Patterson, Tyler Figlioli and Hunter Swidzinski led the Butler win.
Kenneth Bickel finished first overall, running the modified course in 12 minutes, 47 seconds as Slippery Rock's boys won at Wilmington, 25-34.The Rocket girls were defeated, 17-43.
