Butler Township pickleball courts opening Monday
BUTLER TWP — Work on the pickleball courts in Butler Township Park is expected to wrap up this week, in time for the courts to open Monday.
Fencing around the three courts, located adjacent to the dek hockey rink, has been installed, Tom Knights, township manager, said at Wednesday's township commissioners' meeting.
The remaining work is expected to be completed Friday and the courts will open Monday, he said.
In other business, the commissioners approved advertising for a financial manager for the police pension plan.
The township's minimum municipal obligation (MMO) to the police pension plan is $260,714 and the MMO for the employee pension plan is $589,198 for 2020, said Knights.
Dave Zarnick, commissioners' president, said 80.5% of township residents have completed the 2020 Census.
Oct. 31 is the deadline to fill out census forms and residents who need help completing the form can contact the township office for assistance, he said.
