Jackson OKs Trails at Harmony Junction

Jackson Township supervisors granted final approval to the first phase of the Trails at Harmony Junction development in a virtual meeting Thursday.

Phase 1 of the development will consist of 39 single-family homes within the nearly 75-acre neighborhood, which will contain 124 single-family houses and two duplexes when all phases are complete.

Trails at Harmony Junction will connect to Villages at Harmony Junction off Route 68. Because it is expected to cause an additional 113 vehicle trips along Route 68 during peak hours, zoning officer Nikki Colton said at a February planning commission meeting that some of the traffic impact fees may fund a right-turn lane from the state highway into the two-development area.

A communal green space will take center stage within the development. Chris Kerns of Eco Land Solutions, speaking for the developer at a February planning commission meeting, said the green space will itself center around an extant basin, which the developer was unable to turn into area for development.

Surrounding the basin will be a walking trail, made of aggregate stone.

Utilizing more of the lot, an existing farm pond will transform into a gazing pond, around which four benches will be placed. The pond may also be stocked with fish.

Supervisors further considered plans to expand commercial structures within the township Thursday. One application came from the Bilo Gas-n-Go on Route 19. Supervisors approved a plan to construct a 2,700-square-foot addition, which will require relocating gas pumps. The two supervisors present approved the motion. Also approved was an application from Advanced Polymer Technologies to build a 19,000-square-foot addition to its current facility off Hartmann Road.
