Middlesex Township supervisors discuss repairs for Blackhawk Road
MIDDLESEX TWP — Middlesex supervisors discussed possibilities during a meeting Wednesday night for fixing Blackhawk Road near Phase 3 of the Ryan Homes development.
Mike Spreng, supervisor chairman, asked township engineer Jeff Mikesic what he thought about fixing a few problematic spots.
“I just need a little recommendation for that,” Spreng said. “I'm getting phone calls.”
Spreng said he believes the road needs attention in some areas, but he isn't sure if it's bad enough for a lot of work.
Recognizing there are a few holes in the road, Mikesic said the deficiencies at this time are more cosmetic than structural.
“There's definitely spots,” Mikesic said. “There's definitely gouges in there.”
Mikesic said the holes aren't very deep. But he's concerned that they've developed on a new road. Between pending winter weather conditions and heavy traffic, the problem could get worse.
“It's going to end up being a big maintenance problem down the road,” Mikesic said.
Mikesic and Spreng said the main problem area looks like a homeowner had been operating heavy equipment to do yard work and used the road to turn around.
“It is only a few spots,” Spreng said.
Mike Hnath, township solicitor, said the problem falls under the developer's jurisdiction. Blackhawk Road is in the housing development. However, the township can work with the developer to fix the issue.
“Why don't you just go look at it together?” Hnath asked.
Spreng said the township would look at the road and try to discuss the issue with Ryan Homes representatives.
