Monday — Michael Mann, 18, of Butler was charged with stealing a Schwinn bicycle, valued at $200, late last month on the 300 block of West Jefferson Street. The owner called 911 to report his bike was taken shortly before 12:50 a.m. July 31 from outside of his apartment.Not long after the report, according to court documents, a patrol officer spotted a man riding the described bike across North Main Street. Police stopped the man, who identified himself as Mann. He first claimed the bike was his, and then allegedly admitted that he had stolen it.Police said they returned the bike to its owner. Mann is charged with a misdemeanor theft.
7:13 a.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Gregor J. Lassinger, 41, of Butler rear-ended a sport utility vehicle on Route 68 just east of Old Route 68 in Forward Township. Hannah J. McKinnis, 28, of Butler was the other driver. No one was injured, but both vehicles had to be towed. Police cited Lassinger for following too closely to another vehicle.7:20 p.m. Monday — Carleisha D. Eackles, 20, was arrested on charges that she assaulted a 54-year-old woman at the defendant's home on Lite Lane in Center Township. Police said the victim recounted that while she was at the home visiting a friend, she and Eackles got into an argument.The defendant allegedly threw the other woman onto the ground and pulled her by the hair across the kitchen floor, according to court documents. The victim suffered bruising to her left arm and scrapes to both knees.District Judge Bill O'Donnell arraigned Eackles on charges of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct, She was released on $5,000 unsecured bail and ordered to have no contact with the victim.12:59 a.m. Sunday — Police said they found Justin S. Lewis, 40, of Lyndora with a small amount of crack cocaine and a crack pipe following a traffic stop on Route 8 south. He was a passenger in a car that was stopped for having faulty taillights.Lewis is charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
