Police say gun, drugs found in car

Two teens face felony charges

Two teenagers were arrested after a traffic stop Wednesday in Butler Township turned up a stolen gun, suspected drugs and hundreds of dollars, state police said.

Joseph D. Morrow, 18, of Clinton Township, and Edward W. May, 19, of Dravosburg, Allegheny County, each are charged with three felonies. Morrow and May are free on $50,000 and $25,000 bond, respectively.

Police said they pulled over the defendants' car around 1:30 p.m. on Main Street for an alleged window tint violation. They smelled marijuana coming from the car, and they suspected Morrow, the driver, was impaired.

Morrow let police search the vehicle after he and May, his passenger, got out.Troopers found 68 THC vials in the driver's side door and on the floor behind the front passenger seat, according to charging documents. They also found a loaded Walther .40-caliber pistol under the passenger seat.Police said they later learned that the handgun was previously reported stolen.During the vehicle search, troopers also allegedly seized suspected marijuana, $303 and a marijuana vape that was in the driver's side door.Morrow was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results are pending.Later, in an interview at the barracks, documents said, Morrow “admitted to selling THC vials and admitted that the firearm belonged to him.”Additionally, he recounted “handing the stolen firearm to May,” who placed it under the front passenger seat, documents said, and that “May assists (him) in selling the THC vials.”District Judge Bill O'Donnell arraigned both defendants on felony charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm without a carry license.Morrow also was arraigned on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and a summary traffic violation for the improper window tinting.Preliminary hearings for the defendants are scheduled for Thursday. Online court records did not list an attorney for either suspect.
