Sentencing Court

Judge William Shaffer handed down the following sentences Thursday:

Christopher Jackson, 36, of New Kensington was sentenced to two years of probation and 100 hours of community service for theft by deception. Jackson was charged July 25, 2019, and pleaded guilty March 16.

Kirk J. Hines, 31, of Butler was sentenced to three to six days in jail, 174 days of probation and a $1,000 fine for driving under the influence. Hines was immediately paroled after receiving credit for time already served. Hines was charged May 3 and pleaded guilty Feb. 12. In a second case, Hines was sentenced to six months of probation with the first 15 days on house arrest with electronic monitoring for driving under the influence. Hines received 20 days of credit for time already served. He must also pay a $750 fine and serve 60 hours of community service. Hines was charged July 1, 2019, and pleaded guilty Feb. 12.

Frank J. Meyerl, 64, of Zelienople was sentenced to 72 hours to six months in jail, 50 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine for driving under the influence. Meyerl was immediately paroled. He was charged July 31, 2019, and pleaded guilty March 2. In a second case, he was sentenced to 90 days to one year in jail, four years of probation, 100 hours of community service and a $1,500 fine. Meyerl was immediately paroled with the first 105 days on house arrest with electronic monitoring. Meyerl was charged May 28, 2019, and pleaded guilty March 2.

Justin Krafcznski, 27, of Harmony was sentenced to 100 hours of community service, 72 hours to six months in jail and must pay a $1,000 fine for driving under the influence. Krafcznski was immediately paroled after getting credit for time already served. Krafcznski was charged Nov. 2 and pleaded guilty Feb. 24, 2020.

Matthew P. Pupo, 32, of Avalon was sentenced to 72 hours to six months in jail, a $1,000 fine and 60 hours of community service. Pupo was charged Sept. 27 and pleaded guilty March 2.

Keith Askin, 27, of New Castle was sentenced to 30 months of probation for accidents involving death or personal injury. Askin must also pay more than $1,000 in restitution to Erie Insurance, $500 to the victim and $225 in fines. Askin was charged June 4, 2019, and pleaded guilty Feb. 25.

Jason Steighner, 38, of Butler was sentenced to 9 to 23 months in jail, two years of probation, a $1,500 fine and 100 hours of community service for driving under the influence and resisting arrest. Steighner was immediately paroled. He was charged July 9, 2019, and pleaded guilty March 2.

Douglas L. Robertson, 62, of Butler was sentenced to six months to one year in jail for driving under the influence. He was immediately paroled with the first 105 days on house arrest. He must also serve four years of probation, 100 hours of community service and pay a $1,500 fine. Robertson was charged July 15, 2019, and pleaded guilty March 11.

Jedidiah A. Burns, 38, of Butler was sentenced to 30 days to six months in jail, a $750 fine and 60 hours of community service for driving under the influence. Burns was immediately paroled with the first 42 days on house arrest with electronic monitoring.

Kenneth Stroup, 64, of Cranberry Township was sentenced to 72 hours to six months in jail, 25 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine for driving under the influence. He was immediately paroled with the first 10 days on house arrest with electronic monitoring. Stroup was charged March 19, 2019, and pleaded guilty June 8. In a second case, Stroup was sentenced to one year of probation for simple assault. He was charged Nov. 8 and pleaded guilty June 8.

Lauren Shaffer, 40, of Baden, Beaver County, was sentenced to 30 months of probation with the first nine months on house arrest with electronic monitoring. Shaffer must also pay restitution. Shaffer was charged Nov. 25 and pleaded guilty June 24.

Ryan J. Horan, 24, of Butler was sentenced to 72 hours to six months in jail for driving under the influence. He was immediately paroled with the first 15 days on house arrest with electronic monitoring. Horan must also complete 100 hours of community service and pay a $2,000 fine. Horan was charged April 6, 2019, and pleaded guilty June 29.

Christopher T. Chase, 33, of Prospect was sentenced to six months of probation and a $75 fine for possession of drug paraphernalia. Chase was charged Aug. 19 and pleaded guilty Jan. 15. In a second case, Chase was sentenced to 90 days to one year in jail for possession of a controlled substance. Chase was immediately paroled. He was charged Dec. 1 and pleaded guilty June 29.
