Monday — Kimberly M. Logan, 53, of Butler was charged with an alleged shoplifting incident about 11 p.m. July 4 at the A-Plus store on West Jefferson Street. She is accused of taking candy, food and snacks totaling $30. Police charged her with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.11:35 a.m. Thursday — Richard M. McCardle Jr., 31, allegedly failed to supervise his 5-year-old son after police were called to his home on the 700 block of Center Avenue for a report of a child running around the neighborhood only in his underwear.Police said they have been called to the home for two similar incidents in the past six weeks.Officers spoke to the boy and to McCardle, who was advised of the complaint. Police notified the Butler County Children and Youth Services agency. CYS responded and a safety plan was created for the child. The boy was eventually turned over to his mother, police said.McCardle is charged with a misdemeanor count of child endangerment.
Thursday — The investigation into the theft of a handgun earlier this month is ongoing, police reported. The Springfield Hellcat 9 mm pistol was stolen between July 9 and 16 while in transit from Sportsman's Supply Company on Route 356 in Summit Township to a federal firearms licensed dealer in Georgia, according to a police report.The report noted that the gun's serial number was BY201723.Thursday — Police are investigating the reported theft of a car July 18 on Route 308 in Clay Township. The vehicle, a 2005 Nissan Sentra, was recovered the same day.Thursday — A 17-year-old Butler boy was reportedly arrested for driving under the influence stemming from a traffic stop last month in Center Township. He was stopped about 2:30 a.m. June 20 at Route 8 and Mahood Road. Police did not name the boy.July 22 — An unknown suspect damaged a mailbox at the home of a 79-year-old woman on the 400 block of Watters Station Road in Forward Township. The incident happened between 8:30 and 11 a.m. Damage was estimated at $100.9:56 p.m. July 14 — Raymond J. Gonzalez, 27, of Butler was allegedly caught with a small bag of marijuana following a traffic stop at Route 356 and Kriley Lane in Jefferson Township. He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, driving with a suspended license and following too closely to another vehicle.12:20 p.m. July 14 — A 16-year-old boy, who police did not identify, was found with a pair of brass knuckles while troopers were attempting to serve a warrant at a home of the 300 block of Driftwood Road in Jefferson Township. The teen faces a charge of possession of a prohibited offensive weapon.9:20 p.m. July 13 — Tyler O. Lambing, 21, of Pittsburgh was arrested on unspecified warrants after police were called for a disturbance at a home on Five Oak Lane in Washington Township. Police said they found Lambing at the home with his 18-year-old girlfriend, who has a protection from abuse order against the defendant.Lambing also was found with suspected marijuana and other contraband. He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and failing to notify authorities of a change of address. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on unspecified warrants, and released July 23.4:02 p.m. July 10 — Robert D. Pale, 56, of Prospect was injured when a car rear-ended his cargo van on Kelly Road in Muddy Creek Township. He suffered unknown injuries. Police did not release the name of the other driver, a 17-year-old girl from Carnegie, Allegheny County. The car had to be towed.8:29 p.m. July 5 — Shane A. McCommon, 31, of Butler was seriously injured when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into an embankment on the 600 block of Route 38 in Center Township. Police said McCommon was not wearing a helmet. A police report did not identify the hospital where he was taken for treatment.Unionville and Oneida Valley volunteer fire departments and Butler Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.10:09 p.m. July 6 — A 17-year-old Renfrew boy was allegedly found with drug contraband following a traffic stop on the 200 block of East Wayne Street in Butler. Police did not release the name of the boy, who is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
6:16 p.m. Friday — A crew of shoplifters stole 20 jackets, valued at a combined $1,800, at the Columbia store at Premium Outlets in Springfield Township. The suspects are described as three Black males, at least one of them a juvenile, and a Black female.July 16 — An unknown identity thief racked up $1,099 in fraudulent charges on a 29-year-old Pine Township woman's debit card.State Police, New Castle10:44 a.m. July 1 — A Butler County man was seriously injured when he lost control of his car and struck an embankment on Smiley Stop Road just north of Chewton Wurtemburg Road in Wayne Township. The car, driven by James C. Zapf, 88, of Cranberry Township, ended on its passenger side.Zapf was taken to UPMC Passavant hospital in Cranberry. Township. Police cited him for driving to fast for conditions.
