New mobile health unit providing services
A new mobile health unit will bring a variety of medical services, such as sexually transmitted disease testing and birth control, throughout 12 counties.
Butler is not included.
The counties that are included are Armstrong, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Elk, Forest, Jefferson, McKean, Mercer, Potter, Venango and Warren.
The services are being provided by Adagio Health’s Mobile Health Unit, according to an announcement from the company.
The unit is a 36-foot long vehicle equipped with a reception area, exam room, lab and restroom and it will be staffed by a certified registered nurse and two medical assistants.
The unit will be based in Seneca, Venango County, and it will travel to the 12 counties. The staff estimates that they will serve between 12 and 14 patients a day. The company said it intends to have the unit on the road four days a week for 10 hours each day.
Adagio Health is funded by the state and federal governments, local foundation partners, individual donors and corporate/community partnerships. Health services are provided at low to no cost based on qualification.
