[naviga:h3]2 cars collide in Jefferson Township[/naviga:h3]
JEFFERSON TWP — Traffic was backed up on North Pike Road in the mid-afternoon heat on Friday near the intersection at Marwood Road, where a two-car accident caused minor injuries to the occupants of both vehicles.
A Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company firefighter said the injuries to the drivers and occupants appeared non-life threatening although a few people were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital by Saxonburg Ambulance.
A state police report with details on the accident was unavailable Friday.
Firefighters worked en masse to clear the road of debris after the two damaged vehicles were placed on flatbed trucks.
[naviga:h3]Couch left on I-79 causes crash[/naviga:h3]
Traffic on Interstate 79 in southern Butler County was stalled for about an hour Friday afternoon.
According to Cranberry Township firefighters, a driver swerved to miss a wicker couch while traveling on I-79 southbound between the Evans City and the Cranberry/Mars/Turnpike exit at about 3 p.m. Friday. Firefighters said the driver lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over on its side into a culvert.
Passersby helped the driver out of the vehicle, and the driver refused medical treatment, according to firefighters.
Firefighters cleared the scene at about 4 p.m.
