Yvonne Mazurek stands outside the home of her friend, Karen Smaretsky-Vavro, wishing her well and sending her positive vibes during her battle against cancer amid a pandemic. Smaretsky-Vavro received several surprises from multiple friends and family in an outpouring of support for her struggle against Stage 4 cancer. During the quarantine brought on by COVID-19, friends and family did a parade past her house where they all honked, stepped out of their cars with their masks on and held up homemade signs with encouraging words. Friends also encouraged others to sign and write messages showing their support. Since finding out about her cancer, Smaretsky-Vavro said she received more than 275 get-well cards in the mail.
