Butler County's great daily newspaper

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end

It is with some sadness and disappointment that we announce that we are seeing the end of our daily front page devotionals.

We started hosting a front page spot on a daily basis in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. We didn’t know how long the morning words of encouragement or the pandemic would last. It seems like the ability to maintain the messages closely correlates to the time period that Pennsylvania was shut down before finally returning to our current green phase.

The religious leaders of our community were quite gracious and giving of their time and talents to get this idea started, and helped to perpetuate it over several months.

It was one of the best received features we have been able to create in a long time. The timing was very good as the churches were seeking a way to extend their reach in an unsettled time, and we could justify the space as a real reader service.

We were extremely pleased that the feature reached across all religions and no one voiced objections when an article or submission didn’t gel with their own personal beliefs. The writers did an excellent job each and every day of making the readers feel at ease and confident that some greater power was still in charge.

But alas, all good things do come to an end, and as the churches and the leaders work to reopen their sanctuaries and places of worship, the extra time they had been able to afford for writing these columns has disappeared.

The submissions have become more difficult to solicit from them, and we fully understand the priorities of the gracious contributors.

So, we are extending the opportunity to submit a final message from each one who has participated and we plan to end the feature on Father’s Day, June 21, unless the absence of submissions causes it to end sooner. We have greater appreciation and admiration for these religious leaders than ever before and for the amazing work they do.

Thanks to all those who contributed and we hope that their writings brought a little brightness to your mornings.
