Wednesday — Jennifer Needham, 47, of Butler, was arraigned on a felony shoplifting charge stemming from an incident May 21 at the Dollar General store on North Main Street.Police said they got a shoplifting call around 7 p.m. and found Needham in the nearby parking garage at South Cedar and Vogeley streets. An officer also found some of the allegedly stolen store merchandise in the garage stairwell, according to court documents.Needham, who has at least three prior shoplifting convictions, was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft. She is free on her own recognizance.6:25 a.m. Tuesday — Nivea Morales, 36, of Butler, was arrested after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend during a domestic dispute at their apartment on the 300 block of South Monroe.The victim told police that Morales struck him in the head, chest and back, and she also bit him three times, according to court documents. Morales was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $3,000 bond.12:16 a.m. May 17 — Police said they found Sydney J. Elder, 21, of Valencia, with a marijuana pipe following a traffic stop on Route 8 south. She is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
12:24 a.m. May 21 — Jeffrey R. Coates, 33, of Zelienople, allegedly took his estranged girlfriend's car without her permission from her home on Hickory Hill Lane. He is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle.
8 a.m. May 15 — Two people were injured in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction wreck on Route 68 just west of Somple Lane in Oakland Township. The crash occurred in the northbound lane when an SUV driven by Bradley D. Johnson, 41, of Chicora, rear-ended another SUV driven by Donald E. Halpin, 68, of Allison Park, Allegheny County.Halpin's vehicle was forced into the back of a pickup truck driven by Renee L. Mock, 48, of Chicora. Police noted Halpin and Mock were stopped for a PennDOT-managed work zone.Johnson was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, and Halpin was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known. Police cited Johnson in the crash.
