The distribution of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds is based on 2019 Title I-A disbursements.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education states that per the CARES Act, districts must consult with all nonpublic schools serving low-income students within their jurisdiction. Nonpublic schools receive a small portion of the ESSER money issued to their public district.
Of the $471 million available to public districts and charter schools in Pennsylvania, $2.99 million is slated for Butler County districts, according to the education department’s website:
Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District: $182,672
Butler Area School District: $1,318,431
Freeport Area School District: $147,904
Karns City Area School District: $210,168
Mars Area School District: $142,281
Moniteau School District: $238,832
Seneca Valley School District: $282,630
Slippery Rock Area School District: $251,424
South Butler County School District: $217,563
Districts must apply for their allotment. Once received, money must be spent by September 2022.
