Area liquor stores reopening Friday
Raise a glass and say a toast — “indefinitely” is over in Butler County.
Two months after announcing the closure of all Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board announced stores in Butler and a number of other counties will reopen Friday for walk-in sales.
The 155 stores slated to open again are those in counties in the yellow phase of Gov. Tom Wolf's COVID-19 mitigation plan.
But things still won't be quite the same as they were before the stores were shuttered March 17.
Stores will be limited to no more than 25 customers at a time. There will be a further limit of customers in smaller stores.
The first hour of a store's opening each day will be reserved to customers at high-risk for COVID-19, including those 65 and older, according to the PLCB.
All customers and employees will be required to wear masks and practice social distancing. Signs will be in place to direct customers to follow one-way patterns and thereby avoid close contact with others.
Officials said all sales will be final, with no returns accepted until further notice.
Before opening to the public, all the stores were professionally sanitized. Plexiglas was installed at registers as an added safety precaution.
Seventy-seven stores reopened for limited in-store sales in the 24 counties that were first to move from the red to yellow phase in Wolf's reopening plan.
Stores reopening for walk-in service will also attempt to continue curbside pickup service, and the PLCB will also continue accepting online orders at FineWineAndGoodSpirits.com.
