In Brief
[naviga:h3]Cranberry lights up in show of support[/naviga:h3]
The Cranberry Township Municipal Center has been bathed in light each night to honor the efforts of first responders and health care workers.
Each Thursday through Sunday, gold light bathes the building to put a spotlight on the first responders, doctors, nurses and other frontline workers who are working to battle the pandemic.
Red, white and blue lights shine on the building Monday through Wednesday to signify the unity of America during this trying time.
Township residents and business owners are being asked to light up their buildings in a similar fashion to let these heroes know they are appreciated and supported.
Residents are invited to send photos of their lights to the township’s Facebook page. Those photos will be shared online to continue the show of support.
[naviga:h3]Adams memorial service canceled[/naviga:h3]
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Adams War Memorial Service, scheduled May 17 at the Adams Township Park, has been canceled.
The memorial was created in 2014, and each year a service has been conducted in May followed by a picnic-style lunch.
Overseeing the memorial is Army veteran Paul Ford who served in Vietnam. Veterans from the Civil War to the global war on terrorism are honored.
Families can still buy an engraved brick to honor a veteran. Bricks are sold for $125 each year, engraved and then placed at the memorial, usually in May. To reserve a brick, contact Ford at 724-625-2341.
