Registered sex offender facing new charges

Gregory Wilson

A registered sex offender is accused of inappropriately touching a young girl about five years ago at his home in Fairview Township.

State police Monday arrested Gregory F. Wilson, 69, on a felony charge of corruption of minors and misdemeanor charges of assault of a child less than 13 years old and child endangerment.

Police said the girl came forward in late 2018, accusing Wilson of touching her chest in 2015 when she was 6 or 7 years old.

In 2015, police arrested Wilson for a similar incident involving a then 8-year-old girl at his home. He subsequently pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault in that case.

He was sentenced in 2016 to five years' probation. He also was placed on the Megan's Law registry. The state police-run Megan's Law website lists him as a Tier 3 offender, which means he must register for life.

Police in the latest investigation interviewed Wilson at the barracks Dec. 27, 2019.

“The defendant advised he knew the exact incident I spoke of regarding (the girl),” Trooper Richard Giustini said in his affidavit. “The defendant related it occurred around the same time things had occurred with (the) separate victim.”

Following his arraignment Monday, Wilson was released on $100,000 unsecured bond and ordered to have no contact with any minors. His preliminary hearing is set June 9.

Court records did not indicate if he has an attorney. He could not be reached for comment.
