Melanie Ebig, owner of Mel's Place restaurant in Cabot, delivers donated dinners for emergency room and ICU staff at Butler Memorial Hospital on Saturday, March 21, 2020, with her mom, Maureen Krauland, left, and daughter, Tori Krauland. Ebig's restaurant prepared 50 dinners, including meatloaf, mashed potatoes, pizza, hoagies and salad for the healthcare workers. The donation was paid for by the John Krauland Jr. Memorial Foundation. Ebig's brother John was killed in a car accident in 2014. According to Ebig and her mother, the foundation benefits scholarships for Knoch and Deer Lakes students as well as other area charitable donations for the needy.Seb Foltz/Butler Eagle
A fire about 4:30 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2020, damaged a house on Second Avenue in Butler. Two adults and three children fled the home, which was divided into two apartments, and no one was injured.
