Butler Little Theatre's “An Inspector Calls” opens Friday at the theater at One Howard St.

Curtain is at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sunday, and 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through March 21.

The drama is set in an English manufacturing town in 1912.

The Birling family has convened to celebrate the engagement of their daughter, Sheila Birling, to her boyfriend, Gerald Croft. Then Inspector Goole arrives to begin an inquiry.

The cast includes Stefan Lingenfelter, Denise Johnston, Nedra Casey, Bob Meals, Max Medford, Sarah Altomari and Casey Bowser.

Sing Hosanna! is rehearsing for “Shrek The Musical” set for April 3 to 5 at the Succop Theater at Butler County Community College.

Curtain is planned for 7:30 p.m. April 3 and 4 and 2 p.m. April 5.

Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts plans to present the band Carnival of Souls at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Lincoln Hall, 42 S. Palmer St., Foxburg.

Phipps Conservatory has announced its Spring Flower Show “Canopy of Color” to run March 21 to April 19.

Tens of thousands of spring blooms, including hydrangea, petunias, daffodils, tulips, hyacinths and more will be displayed both in the signature beds and suspended from above.

Rain curtains will cast April showers in the Sunken Garden as guests stroll beneath 100 colorful umbrellas and rain drops.

Hours at the conservatory and botanical gardens in Pittsburgh are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays. For more information, visit phipps.conservatory.org.

The Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh is scheduled to host the sixth annual Irish Genealogy Workshop from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 17, St. Patrick's Day.

Irish genealogy experts Fintan Mullan and Gillian Hunt from the Ulster Historical Foundation in Belfast, Ireland, will present an in-depth look at the genealogical sources found in Ireland.

Topics of focus this year include the best websites for starting family research, census substitutes for the 18th and 19th centuries, and early 19th-century land records.

The Butler County Beer Circuit, a self-guided tour of local breweries, now includes “On the Point Brewing” in Evans City.

On the Point Brewing is a family- and dog-friendly brewery offering hand-crafted beers ranging from ales, IPAs and chocolate coffee stouts.

The Butler County Beer Circuit guests can fill up their Passport to Hoppiness by receiving a stamp at each pub and taking the completed card to the tourism bureau office in Zelienople to claim a specialty mug and more.

A Tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons featuring the tribute group Lights Out is planned for April 18 at the Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave., Lyndora.

They have appeared in every major casino from Erie to Las Vegas.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. and the show at 8 p.m.

[naviga:h3]Mars student part of ‘Swing!’[/naviga:h3]

Alexis Walker of Mars is part of the cast preparing for the evening of music called “Swing!” scheduled Friday through Sunday at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland, Beaver County.

A song and dance spectacular with flashbacks to the big band era of the ’30s and ’40s, “Swing!” features many well-known tunes, including “I’ll Be Seeing You,” “In the Mood,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, and “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree” from popular artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, and the Andrews Sisters, among others.
