During the Knoch Boys Basketball Senior Night, Jared Schrecengost was named winner of the 2020 Karen Shoop Award. Retired athletic director and longtime Knoch coach Les Shoop's wife Karen passed away early in her life, leaving him to raise their young children. Most of those years were spent raising them in and around the Knoch athletic facilities. Those children are now grown. Several live in the community and continue to support Knoch athletics, along with their father and their children. Each year the family selects one Knoch senior from the boys basketball team to receive the Karen Shoop Award. It has been given out for nearly 25 years in a row.
