Symphony gives salute to Arthur Fiedler
The Butler County Symphony Orchestra's concert on Saturday will pay tribute to the legendary Arthur Fiedler, longtime conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra.
The Butler symphony's “Arthur Fiedler's Pops” concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.
Selections will include “1812 Overture,” “Light Cavalry Overture,” “The Typewriter,” “The Syncopated Clock” and a Beatles medley.
The Butler symphony will perform the tunes that hearken back to the birth of the “Pops” tradition. A pre-concert lecture by Maestro Matthew Kraemer will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The concert begins promptly at 7:30 p.m., and late arrivals may need to wait to be seated.
The final concert in the BCSO's 2019-20 season will be “Mahler's Titan” on April 11. Featured in that concert will be Daniel Perttu playing “To Spring — An Overture,” and the symphony's concerto contest winner.
