[naviga:h3]SRU’s Lugmayr earns tennis honor[/naviga:h3]

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University women’s tennis standout Viola Lugmayr has been named the first PSAC Western Division Athlete of the Week in the sport for the 2019-20 season.

Monday’s award took into account records and results from the fall season through Feb. 10. Lugymar won seven individual tournament matches and reached the PSAC Individual Championships.

She was also part of 13 doubles wins in the fall, teaming with Lois Page to win the PSAC doubles title and Atlantic Region championship.

[naviga:h3]SR’s Brown wins with longshot[/naviga:h3]

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove a 32-1 longshot to victory during Monday’s harness racing card at The Meadows.

Brown drove 4-year-old gelding Beachchip to the win in an $11,000 Conditioned Pace. Beachchip had won only once in 31 previous career starts.
