Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, Brady Township, will be the site of a maple sugaring workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Maple sugaring especially for scouts is planned for Feb. 29. The Great Backyard Bird Count will be Feb. 14 to 17. The George Washington/Cherry Pie Hikes will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 22.
Moraine State Park will be the site of Winterfest planned for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the McDanel’s launch area on the North Shore. Visitors can enjoy winter-themed festivities such as a family-friendly hike at 11 a.m., children’s crafts, chili cook-off, snowshoeing demonstrations, ice and chain-saw carvings, ice rescue demonstrations, live music, bonfire, food and craft vendors and more. PA Fish & Boat Commission plans a PA Basic Boating Course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Unionville Fire Hall, 102 Mahood Road. The course is free. Donations to Unionville Volunteer Fire Company will be appreciated. A check or money order, payable to the PFBC, in the amount of $10 is necessary to cover the cost of the actual certification card.
