BUTLER TWP — Casey Kretzer scored 20 points and the Butler County Community College women’s basketball team rallied from an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat Lorain CC, 54-46, Monday night.

Alexis Barnhart added 12 points for the Pioneers. Jenna Heitzenrater grabbed 15 rebounds, Michaella Roth and Skye Wessel 10 each.

The Pioneer men dropped a 90-80 decision despite 30 points from Andrew Yonker. Julian Sanks added 20 and Jake Slomers 12.

Dom Schmidt had 10 rebounds in the loss.

North Catholic graduate Sam Breen has been named Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

A 6-foot-1 junior forward at the University of Massachusetts, Breen scored 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a victory over Richmond, then notched 26 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two assists in a win over Davidson.
