Vulcans sweep Rock
CALIFORNIA, Pa. — Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team fell victim to some hot shooting Saturday in dropping a 98-70 decision at California.
The host Vulcans (15-6, 11-4) sank seven of their first nine shots overall and five of their first six 3-point attempts in jumping out in front of The Rock early.
Will Robinson Jr,. paced SRU (10-11, 6-9) with 15 points and five rebounds. Micah Till added 14 points and seven boards in just 20 minutes of action.
Revelinio Tholel scored 12 points for The Rock.
Jermaine Hall Jr. led the Vulcans with 23 points while Brent Pegram added 21.
California 76, SRU (women) 59 — The Vulcans (15-6, 9-6) closed the game by outscoring The Rock 23-4 over the final 8:17 to secure the victory.
Daeja Quick paced SRU (5-16, 3-12) with 17 points. Madison Johnson added 15 points while Brooke Hinderliter had 14 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.
Hinderliter also made her 104th career start for The Rock, most in program history. Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson had six points, seven rebounds and two steals.
Shauna Harrison led California with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Both Rock teams are home Wednesday night against Clarion. The women’s game is at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s contest at Morrow Field House.
