Jan. 27 — Christine M. Filges, 44, of Chicora was found with suspected drug contraband — Chore Boy copper scrubber and a metal push road — following a traffic stop on the 300 block of East Jefferson Street. She is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police noted that Filges also was arrested after police found that she was wanted on a warrant.

11:40 p.m. Jan. 23 — John M. Brumfield, 46, of Butler was arrested for drunken driving after being pulled over in a car without its headlights on at Main and Wayne streets. A breath test later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.189 percent, according to court documents. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated. He is charged with driving under the influence and a lighting violation.

Jan. 23 — Police charged Julie M. Cagle, 29, of East Liverpool, Ohio, with DUI following a crash on North Monroe Street. A breath test determined her blood-alcohol level was 0.112 percent.

11:11 p.m. Wednesday — Jeffery S. Hogue, 48, of Wampum, Lawrence County, and Amber R. Stratigos, 28, of Pittsburgh, were caught with suspected drugs and other contraband during an investigation at the Super 8 motel on Route 8 south. Both defendants are charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Hogue also is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.

1:54 a.m. Thursday — Larry Schmidt, 63, of West Sunbury was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his sport utility vehicle on the 500 block of Route 38 in Center Township.

9:31 p.m. Wednesday — Sharron R. Gerken, 36, of Butler lost control of her car and struck a flower planter in the yard of a home on the 300 block of Route 38 in Center Township. Police cited her for hit-and-run and disregarding traffic lanes.

2:31 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Justin E. Lamarca, 37, of Blawnox, Allegheny County, struck a tree along Route 308 in Clay Township. He was not injured.

Wednesday — An unknown thief stole an air compressor and generator from the bed of a 34-year-old Butler man’s work truck on Freeport Road in Jefferson Township. The items, worth a combined $2,000, were taken between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 2:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Police noted that the suspect left behind tire tracks and footprints, and also broke a marker light lens of his or her vehicle while loading the items onto an unknown vehicle.

The stolen property is described as a Hitachi twin-tank gas portable air compressor valued at $1,100 and a Generac generator valued at $900. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 724-288-8100.

Wednesday — Police are investigating a theft involving the suspected hacking of an eBay account belonging to a 44-year-old Forward Township man. The victim told police that someone bought three items using his bank account information that was connected to the eBay account.

5:48 a.m. Saturday — One person was hurt when a car and bicycle collided in Springfield Township. Gwendolyn A. Primrose, 19, of Knox, Clarion County, who was riding the bike, was taken to St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.

Police said the crash happened when Dennis G. Snow, 48, of Mercer, who was traveling west on Leesburg Grove City Road, struck the bike, which was also headed west. The bike, according to a police report, was equipped with a headlamp, and Primrose was wearing a helmet with a lamp on it.

The teen complained of a back injury, police said, and she had bruising on her chest, knees and left lower leg. Her condition was not available.

Police cited Snow for improperly passing the bike driving a vehicle without valid inspection.
