A 18-year-old woman from Warren, Ohio, died in a Friday morning car crash in Lawrence County.

Police report that Savannah G. Smith, 18, pulled onto Route 18 from Route 288 in front of another driver. The other vehicle struck Smith’s car.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office.

The crash occurred around 8:47 a.m. Friday in Wampum, Lawrence County.

The other driver, Chad E. Tirko, 41, of Hooversville in Somerset County, was transported from the scene to UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle with suspected injuries.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Police report that Smith came to a complete stop before crossing both lanes of traffic in front of Tirko. The crash remains under investigation.
