Succop Nature Park, 185 W. Airport Road, Penn Township, offers Birds and More nature walks at 9 a.m. Thursdays. The newly renovated T.W. Phillips Barn features a WindStax turbine that supplies electricity to the building, a nature store, classroom space, a large upstairs area that can be used for programs or rentals, and numerous bathrooms. Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will be the site of “Nature Detectives: The Biome in Your Home” at 2 p.m. Sunday. The program about keeping beneficial critters around is designed for families with children age 6 and older. Children should be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required by Friday, and space is limited. Register at events.dcnr.pa.gov or by calling 724-794-6011. Also, a Prairie Improvement Day is planned for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 18 at the center on Route 528. Participants must be age 12 or older, and registration for this program is due no later than Monday.
