Johnston trio wins at season opener
WASHINGTON, Pa. — Horse trainer Gary Johnston and his sons, drivers Shawn and Aaron — all of Evans City — found victory Monday during the 2020 harness racing season opener at The Meadows.
Gary and Shawn teamed up for a dead-heat victory at 42-1 odds with Clavius in an $8,300 Conditioned Pace. The 4-year-old gelding had lost all 14 of his previous starts.
Aaron guided 3-year-old filly trotter Embrace The Rust to victory in another race, her first win in 20 outings. Aaron Johnston and Brian Taylor of Prospect own the horse.
