Boocks sparks Clarion victory

There was a distinct Butler County area flavor to the Slippery Rock University women's game against Clarion University Friday evening.

A-C Valley graduate and Clarion freshman Olivia Boocks came off the bench to hit five 3-pointers to help the Golden Eagles to a 63-60 win over The Rock.

Boocks finished with 17 points to lead Clarion (3-9 overall, 1-5 in the PSAC).

Karns City graduate Emily Hegedus pitched in seven points and six rebounds for the Eagles.

Hegedus' former teammate with the Gremlins, LeeAnn Gibson, just missed a double-double, scoring nine points to go with 11 rebounds.

Madison Johnson led The Rock (3-9, 1-5) with 22 points.

There were 20 lead changes in the game.

The Rock's Micah Till scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

The game was even at 28 in the first half, but a 10-0 SRU run in the second half turned the tide for the visitors.
