Musical Theatre Guild is offering a special performance of Cole Porter music in January.

“Red, Hot & Cole” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 18 and at 3 p.m. Jan. 19 at MTG's William A. Lehnerd Production Hall at the back of Butler Memorial Park.

Barbara Osche is producing. The director is Bets Danko and assistant director is Augustus Danko. Music director is Jessica Sanzotti.

Proceeds from this special performance will benefit the construction of an ADA-compliant restroom at the production center.

Butler Little Theatre's first show of the new year will be “Lunch Hour,” a comedy by Jean Kerr, from Jan. 17 to 25. Curtain is at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sunday, and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the BLT at One Howard St.The remaining shows of the 2019-20 season will be “An Inspector Calls,” a drama by J.B. BRADY TWP — Staff at Jennings Environmental Education Center will host “Nature Detectives: The Biome in Your Home” at 2 p.m. Jan. 12.The program about keeping beneficial critters around is designed for families with children age 6 and older. PITTSBURGH — Fort Pitt Museum is closed temporarily during the month of January for updates.The museum will reopen on Feb. 1 following exhibit upgrades and additions.During the temporary closure, curators will clean the museum's iconic diorama depicting 18th-century Pittsburgh, which has been on view since the Fort Pitt Museum opened in 1969.Also, several newly acquired 18th-century powder horns will be added to the museum's second-floor exhibition.For more information, visit www.heinzhistorycenter.org.

PITTSBURGH — Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and Pittsburgh Public Theater will present “Little Shop of Horrors in Concert” on Jan. 10.The show will include live cast performances of songs from Pittsburgh Public Theater's production of “Little Shop of Horrors,” including a hand-puppet performance from Audrey II.Two sessions of the performance will be offered at 7 and 8:15 p.m. at Phipps.Tickets to this event include same-day conservatory admission so guests can enjoy the final Friday night of the Holiday Magic! PITTSBURGH — Locomotion Weekend at the Carnegie Science Center is scheduled for Jan. 11 and 12.Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. when guests can explore a rail yard full of guest train displays owned and operated by local hobbyists, take their own trains for a free checkup, and see the Miniature Railroad & Village layout.Locomotion Weekend activities are included with general admission of $19.95 for adults, $14.95 for senior citizens and $11.95 for children; those younger than 2 are admitted free.Visit carnegiesciencecenter.org or call 412-237-3400.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra has a concert featuring Butler County youth coming up on Jan. 19.Young area performers include brothers Derek and Gary Peng of Mars, Elizabeth Salgado of Harmony, and Cheyenne Halderman of Slippery Rock.The performance will begin at 3 p.m. at Shadyside Presbyterian Church.The Junior Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh is also slated to perform.No tickets are needed, though donations will be appreciated.For more information, visit pyso.org.Other concerts finishing out the 2019-20 season will be at 4 p.m. March 22 at Calvary United Methodist Church, and at 2 p.m. May 9at Heinz Hall.
