Rock women net 78-77 OT win
WEST CHESTER — Brooke Hinderliter matched her career-high with 33 points Saturday as the Slippery Rock University women’s basketball team nipped West Chester, 78-77 in overtime on the road Saturday.
Hinderliter sank a free throw with 0.7 seconds left in the extra session to secure the win.
The Rock (3-8, 1-4) trailed by 13 points at halftime and by a 54-43 count late in the third quarter before rallying.
Hinderliter contributed nine rebounds as well. Madison Johnson had 12 points and seven rebounds. Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson scored eight points and had 13 rebounds.
Daeja Quick chipped in with nine points and four assists, Olivia Fusaro eight points in SRU’s first conference win of the season.
Leah Johnson paced four West Chester (3-7, 1-4) players in double figures, scoring 20 points.
No. 14 West Chester 100, SRU (men) 82 — The Golden Rams (11-0, 5-0) built an 18-point lead by halftime and cruised to victory.
Jared Armstrong led SRU (5-6, 1-4) with 24 points. Will Robinson Jr. added 21 points, four rebounds and three assists. Micah Till scored 17 points and had six rebounds.
Robbie Heath led West Chester with 35 points and 10 rebounds.
Both SRU teams return to action Jan. 3 at Clarion in the PSAC West opener. Next home games are against California (Pa.) Jan. 6.
