Pedestrian killed after getting mail
SANDY CREEK TWP, Mercer County — A 46-year-old man was struck and killed Friday by a vehicle in Mercer County while he was walking back to his house after checking his roadside mailbox.
State police said Aquilla David Yoder was returning to his home on Perry Highway in Sandy Creek Township after checking his mailbox at 6:12 p.m. when a northbound vehicle hit him causing fatal injuries, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was dark outside with no streetlights in the area, but the road was dry when the accident occurred, police said.
No charges are being filed against the driver, who police did not identify.
