DONEGAL TWP — State police are investigating the reported theft of $1,600 from an elderly man's room at the Chicora Medical Center in Donegal Township.

The money was taken from a locked drawer in the room of an 86-year-old retiree living at the facility on Medical Center Road, police said. Troopers were called to the medical center Tuesday, but investigators believe the theft occurred between July 1 and Aug. 1.

The victim discovered the money missing several months ago, police said, but he did not immediately report it because he “didn't think it was solvable.”

There are no leads in the case, according to a police report, and there is no security footage available. A call to administrators at the facility was not immediately returned this morning.
