POLICE REPORTS
Nov. 26 — Nathan R. Milligan, 33, of East Butler was charged with forging three checks belonging to his father earlier this month. The checks were cashed between Nov. 13 and 18 at the Armco Credit Union in Butler for a total of $380.
Milligan is charged with three felony counts of forgery.
Nov. 25 — Nora A. Barker, 57, of Butler was charged with having drugs and other contraband in connection with a Sept. 10 traffic stop at Hansen Avenue and Main Street in Lyndora.She said Barker was a passenger in the vehicle that was stopped for going on the wrong way on a one-way street. She was arrested on an unrelated warrant, according to court documents, and a subsequent search turned up a stamp bag of suspected heroin and a crack pipe.Barker is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
7:10 p.m. Nov. 20 — Jaran M. Benko, 40, of Butler was arrested for felony shoplifting after he was caught allegedly shoplifting $75 worth of clothing items at the Clearview Mall Boscov's store in Center Township. Benko, who has at least three prior shoplifting convictions, was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft. He was placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $3,000 bail following arraignment.
Monday — Police reported they are investigating a case of identity theft Wednesday in Perry Township. An unknown thief used a 53-year-old man's Social Security number to obtain new phones through an online website, according to a police report.
2:27 p.m. Nov. 20 — Three people were injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle accident in Worth Township, Mercer County. The crash happened when a pickup truck driven by Joseph L. Swartz, 73, of Grove City pulled from a stop into the path of a car at Route 173 and Kilgore Road.Swartz, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out of his truck. He was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, with injuries described as “severe,” according to a police report. His condition was not available.Police said Swartz's passenger, Kelley M. Huling, 48, of Grove City, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries. She and the other driver, Amanda L. Irwin, 36, of Sandy Lake, who was wearing a seat belt and suffered apparent minor injuries, were both taken by ambulance to Grove City Medical Center.A police report noted that Swartz is being investigated for driving under the influence of marijuana.
2:45 p.m. Nov. 21 — A pickup driven by Brian E. Hall, 55, of New Castle and a sport utility vehicle driven by Donald R. Clark, 66, of Butler collided in a construction zone on Route 422 in Taylor Township. No one was injured.Police cited both drivers for disobeying traffic control devices. Hall also was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
