A two-vehicle accident at the Butler Crossing intersection on New Castle Road shut down one lane of traffic for about an hour Friday.

A two-vehicle accident at the Butler Crossing intersection on New Castle Road shut down one lane of traffic for about an hour around 2 p.m. Friday.

Emergency crews said a woman driving a white Honda CRV attempted a turn onto New Castle Road when her SUV collided with a commercial van with a small trailer hitched to the back.

Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage.

Both drivers, who were alone, were evaluated at the scene for injuries. The male driver of the van exited the ambulance with an ice pack to his head shortly before leaving the scene.

Firefighters said both drivers suffered minor cuts and bruises but no serious injuries.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Butler Township police redirected westbound traffic through the Butler Crossing plaza while the scene was investigated by officers and cleared of debris.

Butler Township and Butler VA firefighters and Butler Ambulance assisted at the scene.
