WASHINGTON, Pa. — Evans City's Aaron Johnston drove Penniman to victory in the $6,600 Conditioned Trot Monday at The Meadows.

Johnston also trains the 5-year-old gelding. The horse's career winnings surpassed the $80,000 mark.

Pennsylvania's statewide four-day general bear season has resulted in 1,330 black bears harvested after two days.There were 1,622 bears harvested during the first two days of the season last year.Tioga County had 100 bears harvested to lead the state, followed by Lycoming County with 98. There were 15 bears harvested in Butler County during the first two days.

ERIE — Butler graduate Emily Archer, a junior on the Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team, has been selected to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.Each school in the AMCC is permitted to select one member from each of its teams for this honor. Archer was selected by vote of her teammates.

BUTLER TWP — Three Butler County Community College women's volleyball players have been named to the All-Region XX team this season.Libero Madyson McAninch, a freshman from Freeport, outside hitter Makenzie McDowell, a sophomore from Knoch, and middle hitter Abby Kopac, a sophomore from Knoch, received the honors.McAninch led Region XX with 567 digs. McDowell had 414 digs and 165 kills, Kopac 169 kills. Outside hitter Kaylee Ebbert, a sophomore from Mars, had 377 digs and 153 kills and received honorable mention.

NEW YORK — A full postseason share on World Series champion Washington was worth $382,358, down from $416,838 for Boston last year and the record $438,902 for Houston in 2017.The commissioner's office said Tuesday the Nationals voted 61 full shares, more than 14 partial shares and two cash awards. The Red Sox had 66 full shares, more than 10 partial shares and eight cash awards.The players' pool was nearly $81 million, the third highest behind a record $88 million last year and more than $84 million in 2017.
