SRU men defeated at home, 66-58
SLIPPERY ROCK — Jared Armstrong scored 18 points, but the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team dropped a 66-58 decision to unbeaten Charleston Saturday night at Morrow Field House.
SRU (2-2) trimmed a 14-point deficit to three with five minutes left, but could not complete the comeback. Will Robinson Jr. had 12 points and eight rebounds, Donovan Walker 11 points.
Devon Robinson had 11 points and 13 rebounds for Charleston (4-0).
Bowie State 58, SRU (women) 50
Madison Johnson paced SRU (1-2) with 16 points and five rebounds. Brooke Hinderliter added 10 points.
Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson saw her first action of the season and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds. Bowie State forced 20 Rock turnovers.
SRU concludes its season-opening four-game road trip at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Salem, (W.Va.). Both SRU teams host Shippensburg and Lock Haven next weekend.

Jamie Carter led the Pioneers (0-5) with 25 points. Andrew Yonker added 16 and Kaiden Young 11. Julian Sanks grabbed 10 rebounds.

Michaella Roth paced the Pioneers (1-4) with 17 points. Casey Kretzer added 12 and Alexis Barnhart snared 13 rebounds.
