B'nai Abraham launches a series of conversations in November, “Why am I a Jew?” examining Judaism's appeal.

The conversations take place at 11 a.m. Sunday and will include refreshments.

Speakers will be: Sunday, Roberta Gallagher, Chris Hood, Phil Terman; Nov. 17, Lori and Zach Doerr, Janice Dunmire; and Nov. 24, Cantor Michal, Howard and Meg Kossover.

The Ladies' Bible Study of First Baptist Church meets at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Dittmer home.There will be a 9:45 a.m. Sunday school, an 11 a.m. worship service, a noon lunch and a 1:15 p.m. worship service Sunday.

First English Lutheran Church celebrates Holy Communion at the altar rail at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service. Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m.The church council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.There will be a staff meeting at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Grace's Closet, a free clothing bank is open to the public from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. The closet is open the second and fourth Saturday of each month. Clothing donations can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, or any Saturday the closet is open.Holy Communion will be celebrated at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.

GraceWay meets each Sunday morning for a 10 a.m. worship service at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.Sherry Ellenberger and MaryAnn Mahan provide the special music Sunday.All U.S. veterans will be honored at the worship service.

Pledges will be dedicated during Consecration Sunday at Hill United Presbyterian Church. The handbell choir will ring at worship.Community lunches will be packed by volunteers at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall.The women's book club will meet at 12:15 p.m. Sunday in the Hall Lounge.The stewardship committee will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, and the handbell choir will rehearse at 6 p.m. Thursday.Reservations for the 5:30 p.m. Senior Night Out Nov. 18 are due Wednesday.

As a lead-in to the Thanksgiving holiday, Pastor Fred Kison will begin a 3-week series entitled, “The Content Life,” which explores what it means to appreciate God's goodness.

Old Union Presbyterian Church has its annual congregational meeting after worship this week to elect officers, vote on the pastor's proposed terms of call, and receive financial reports including the budget.Because of the congregational meeting this week, the fellowship dinner will be Nov. 17.The annual Veterans Day bonfire is Saturday evening.

After each Sunday service at Orchard Hill Butler County, 107 Staley Ave., visitors are encouraged to come to the front of the Worship Center for 10 minutes to meet the staff and hear about the mission and vision of the church.

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church hosts a community Veterans Day concert featuring the TMG Big Band at 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. An offering will be received to benefit the Veterans Dental Program at the Jean B. Purvis Community Health Center.

St. John's Lutheran Church, 420 Beaver St., Mars, has a celebration of commitment at its 10 a.m. Sunday worship service with a luncheon to follow.

St. Luke's Lutheran Church celebrates All Saints Sunday with Holy Communion at the 8:15 a.m. worship service. There will be a special remembrance at both services for those who died during the past year.A doughnut fellowship will follow each service in the cafe.Everyone is invited to sign Christmas cards for active military in the cafe. Donations of socks and chapstick are also welcome until Nov. 11.The church council meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Fellowship Hall.The Stars fellowship group meets at noon Wednesday for Thanksgiving dinner catered by The Eatery. St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church will have only a 10:15 a.m. Sunday worship service this week.Sunday school for all ages will be from 9 to 10 a.m.Children's Hour preschool for children 2 through kindergarten will be from 9:20 to 11:30 a.m.
