Knoch tennis bows in finals
Knoch's girls tennis team fell, 3-0, to Sewickley Academy in the PIAA Class 2A team championship match Saturday at Hershey Racquet Club.
Laura Greb dropped a straight-set decision at No. 1 singles to Evelyn Safar by scores of 6-1, 6-4.
The Knights were on the short end of both doubles matches. Libby Conlon/Jadyn Brown lost to Victoria Keller/Emma DiSantis (6-1, 7-5) and Caroline Ejzak/Riley Wynn fell to Aleena Purewall/Milla Ivanova (6-1, 6-0).
Play was halted after the Panthers secured the win.
Knoch also lost to Sewickley in the WPIAL team final earlier this month.
The Knights reached the final by dispatching Lancaster Catholic,.4-1, earlier Saturday.
Greb, Brooke Bauer and Ally Bauer all won in singles play while Ejzak and Wynn teamed up for a doubles victory.
Vincentian Academy junior and Cranberry Township resident Tara Lucot placed seventh overall to help the Royals’ girls cross country team claim the WPIAL Class A title Thursday at California (Pa.) University.Lucot finished the course in a time of 21 minutes, 14 seconds.Vincentian Academy, which has now won five consecutive district titles, will compete in the state championship meet Saturday in Hershey.
