PORTERSVILLE — Steam is a family tradition in Portersville, especially for resident Steve Brandon.

Since the '80s, Brandon has volunteered at the Northwest Pennsylvania Steam Engine and Old Equipment Association's Portersville Steam Show Fall Fling and took his kids to the show as they grew up, he said.

“It's good clean fun,” Brandon said.

Now that his children are older, they also volunteer their time at the show, he said. The association's Portersville Steam Show Fall Fling was full steam ahead Sunday. The weekend-long show provided a variety of activities, including a vintage village, saw mill, cider press, gas engines, oil field equipment, train rides, steam engines, flea market and crafts.

Other attractions included kid's pedal tractor pulling, tractors, large traction engines, tractor pulls and steam building. Attendees also had the chance to watch apple-butter-making and cider-pressing demonstrations. The variety of steam powered machines gives people a chance to see something out of the ordinary, Brandon said.“Steam is a thing of the past,” he said.
