Knoch doubles team wins section title
Knoch's Libby Conlon and Ally Bauer teamed up to win the Section 3-AA doubles championship Thursday at Alpha Tennis and Fitness in Harmarville.
The duo defeated Burrell's Isabella Lane and Madyson Radvansky by scores of 6-3, 6-2, to earn the title.
Conlon and Bauer, a senior and freshman, respectively, will compete in the WPIAL tournament Wednesday.
Hampton 3, Butler 2 — Lexi Chappel earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and No. 3 singles player Mikayla Turner earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory for the Golden Tornado (4-5, 2-5).
Boys Soccer
Nate Rondinelli's goal in the 20th minute accounted for the only goal in the Karns City boys soccer team's 1-0 victory over Punxsutawney at Diehl Stadium Thursday evening.
Brayden Christie assisted on the play. Goalie Nate Boyden recorded six saves, several spectacular, to record the shutout.
The Gremlins (9-0) host Forest Area on Saturday for their Senior Day.
Mars 9, Indiana 0 — Austin Rocke, Tyler Nymberg and Dane Beller all scored two goals in this section win.
Gabe Singh, Stephen Papik and Easton Carter each tallied one score.
Mitchell Schultz again manned the net for Mars.
Butler 3, Pine-Richland 1 — Landon Mohney's unassisted goal had the Golden Tornado up at halftime.
Emery Douthett and Tyler Gillis added goals in the second half. Evan Fetter and Josh Burlingham both had an assist.
Peyton Seibert earned the win in net.
Ally Fennell scored and added an assist in Karns City's 2-0 win against Clarion.Alexis Moore also found the net and McKenna Lavella was credited with the other assist.
Butler 18, Hampton 44 (boys); Butler 21, Hampton 34 (girls) — The Golden Tornado boys improved to 5-0 on the season with this recent win over the Talbots at Hartwood Acres.C.J.
