LOCK HAVEN — Slippery Rock University quarterback Roland Rivers III and kicker Jake Chapla have been named PSAC West Offensive and Special Teams Athletes of the Week, respectively.
Rivers completed 23 of 30 passes for a career-high 405 yards and six touchdowns in SRU's 62-37 win at Wayne State. He also rushed for 67 yards and a score.
Chapla booted eight PATs, bringing his career total to 166 and breaking The Rock's career record of 161, set in 2000 by Morgan Anderson.
NEW WILMINGTON — Seneca Valley graduate and Westminster College freshman midfielder Julia Redilla has been named Presidents' Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Freshman of the Week.Redilla had the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over previously unbeaten Baldwin Wallace. She has three goals and an assist on the season.
BUTLER TWP — Morgan Malinski dished out 27 assists and Kaylee Ebbert tallied seven kills as Butler County Community College's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Pitt-Titusville on Monday.Mady McAninich totaled 16 digs and McKenna DeWitt six kills for the Pioneers (4-1, 3-0).
LOS ANGELES — Southern California athletic director Lynn Swann resigned Monday after three tumultuous years on the job at his alma mater.The 67-year-old Swann was hired in 2016 despite no significant experience in athletic administration. USC's athletic department has faced several setbacks during the Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver's tenure, notably involvement in the widespread college admissions scandal and the college basketball corruption scandal.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have acquired quarterback Josh Dobbs in a trade with Pittsburgh, giving them a backup while Nick Foles recovers from a broken collarbone.The Jaguars gave up their fifth-round pick in the 2020 draft for Dobbs, who was in his third season with the Steelers.
