'Better than riding in a car'

Dominic Pallone of Cycle Warehouse said he and a few of his co-workers ride their motorcycles to work.

Open the throttle, and off to work they go.

Dominic Pallone of Cycle Warehouse said he and a few of his co-workers ride their motorcycles to work.

“Considering it's Pennsylvania, and there's not much time to do so, any chance you get to take it out, even if it's to work and back, is nice,” Pallone said.

Pallone said he'll ride any day he can, even if it's just to and from work.

He said he likes to leave even earlier to log some extra time on his hog. He calls these “detours.”

“It definitely makes you more relaxed,” Pallone said. “When you're on your bike it's more of a relaxation thing than anything. That's why most people do it.”

Pallone said compared to his truck, his bike milks gas for its worth.

“My truck is a gas guzzler,” he said. “You can fill your bike up every two weeks, and it costs $7. It's definitely a bonus.”

Pallone said for him riding his bike also gives him insights into his job, and he starts the day off on the right foot.

Joel Mann of A.B. Mann Co. said he's been riding his Honda Goldwing for years.

Mann said his Goldwing has about 156,000 miles on it now, and he bought it 17 years ago, used with around 28,000 miles on it.

He said riding his motorcycle to and from work is plainly for joy.

“I just like riding,” Mann said. “I like the way it sounds.”

Mann said he's been riding since he was 10, and he continues to ride whenever he can, including to and from work.

“I rode it every day this week,” he said. “It's better than riding in a car.”
