Succop Nature Park, 185 W. Airport Road, Penn Township, hosts Birds and More nature walks at 9 a.m. Thursdays. The newly renovated T.W. Phillips Barn features a WindStax turbine that supplies electricity to the building, a nature store, classroom space, a large upstairs area that can be used for programs or rentals, and numerous bathrooms. Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will be the site of “Nature Detectives: Project Tree Trouble!” at 2 p.m. Sept. 15; registration is required by Sept. 12, and space is limited. “National Public Lands Day” volunteer event will take place at Jennings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 28; participants must be 12 or older and must register no later than Sept. 25. McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, just over the county line into Lawrence County off Route 422, has the historic gristmill open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
