KARNS CITY — Anthony Kamenski threw for 145 yards and four touchdowns as the Karns City football team routed Punxsutawney 49-7 at home Friday night.

Kamenski threw touchdown passes of 9, 20, 75 and 49 in the first half as the Gremlins built a 35-7 lead at the break.

Kaden Scherer caught two of the touchdown passes and Brayden Christie hauled in the other two.

Kamenski, a senior, also had a 60-yard touchdown run in the first half, and rushed for 105 yards in the game.

Karns City coach Joe Sherwin said it was important for the Gremlins to establish a passing game against the Chucks.

“We are primarily a running team and wanted to keep Punxsutawney off balance passing the ball more than usual,” Sherwin said. “I really thought we has good balance tonight, especially with our spread offense. They were not able to key on any one player. Our next game is with Clarion, and we know that will be a challenge for our team.”

Karns City's defense was also strong.

Colton Craig made numerous defensive stops with several tackles coming behind the line of scrimmage.

The Gremlins' defensive line pressured Chucks' quarterback Kameron Falgout throughout the game.

Karns City kicker Owen Collwell converted all seven of his extra points.
