Pirates get 7 runs in opening inning
DENVER — The Pittsburgh Pirates scored seven runs in the top of the first inning Thursday night and led the Colorado Rockies 11-8 in the eighth frame at Coors Field.
The game ended too late for press time.
Kevin Newman and Jose Osuna homered for the Pirates early in the game. Pittsburgh had tallied 13 hits by the fourth inning.
Newman and Adam Frazier had three hits each. Trevor Williams was on pace to be the winning pitcher.
